Correlation between Self-Confidence and Leadership
Self-assessment is the only way to effectively figure out about the flaws as well as strengths of our own selves. It is these factors which influence and improve the performance.
Normally, people who are not good at self-assessing themselves are hesitant to take up new challenges. This happens because such people feel incompetent to do the task in hand which is due to their lack of belief in their capabilities. This is where self -confidence comes into the picture.

Self-confidence is the only path to success. A lot of people have a tough time building this confidence in them. The lack of self confidence can have an adverse effect on a person’s career. People without confidence will find it difficult to lead or to succeed in their respective field.
Who would want to be lead by a person who is not sure about what he wants to do and believes that he cannot do anything right? It is important for a leader to be clear about what he wants and be able to give instructions efficiently. He should have an attitude and should carry himself well.
All the leaders lead their followers after following someone’s example. The qualities of a leader most often get reflected in his followers and influence their lifestyle. Hence, the leader should know what is correct and what they want to do in order to be able to guide his followers successfully.

These are a few tops that are useful in helping a leader develop self-confidence:
- conduct an exact self-assessment
The basics of self assessment lie in the realization of ones potential with regards to fulfilling the tasks that are given to him. In order to judge this capacity properly, the person has to evaluate the determining factors with a lot of accuracy. For instance, if a leader claims that he can easily jump off a bridge, he should also consider the related aspects like the conditions exiting under the bridge and the physical stamina of the followers.
- be accountable
The realization that the leader faces the results of his decisions is very vital in order to ensure good leadership. It is the leader who has to be entirely accountable for all the consequences that occur as a result of his decision taking.
- compete with your own self
Competition is healthy but only if looked at in the right direction. The best kind of competition is the one which is with out own selves. The leader should make a conscious effort to outdo him every single time and do better than the last time. The leader who tries to be better than anyone else eventually ends up fooling himself.
Self-confidence is a virtue which bears fruit only when there is stability. The leader must know how to make use of his self confidence well so that he can perform all his tasks well and be a good example for his followers as well as successors. The act of self confidence has to be used at the right time, at the right place and in the right quantity.
